Abstract: Based on the temperate deciduous broad-leaved forest in Baiyunshan of Henan Province, the characteristics of sprout regeneration of different plant groups and the relationship between the sprouting ability and environmental factors were discussed. The results showed that: 1) the proportion of families, genera and species of woody plants in the sample plot was 81.82%, 77.78% and 68.13%, respectively, but the overall sprouting rate was relatively low(11.98%); 2) The sprouting ability of different plant groups was significantly different(P<0.01), and the sprouting ability of tree layer and subtree layer was significantly different at different diameter levels(P<0.01),there was no significant difference in the sprouting ability of shrub layer and liana at different diameter classes(P=0.28; P=0.15); 3) The community sprouting ability increase with the increase of community species abundance, and decrease with the increase of community species richness. The community sprouting ability is positively correlated with altitude and convexity.
