Abstract: From the perspective of mitochondrial structure, mitochondrial oxidative damage, mitophagy, mitochondrial dynamics and biogenesis, the protective effect of Lycopene (LYC) on animal mitochondrial damage and its molecular mechanism were reviewed. In the future, researchers can further investigate the molecular mechanisms of improving the LYC bioavailability and abundance the mechanism of LYC alleviate mitochondrial damage, providing theoretical basis and reference for promoting the application of LYC in the treatment and prevention of animal diseases.
