Abstract: To understand the degradation of corn stalk in the field, the effects of microbial inoculants containing Aspergillus niger(J4), Bacillus subtilis(A1) and Trametes hirsute XYG422 on the decomposition rate of corn stalk, soil nutrient, and functional diversity of microbial communities were studied by pot-culture experiments. The results showed that the effects of interval inoculation of J4 with A1 on degradation of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose of corn straw were significantly enhanced by the inoculants at 40 days in the pot-culture experiments, which was 13% higher than that of CK40. The inoculation doses had less effects on the degradation of corn straw. Soil nutrients(available P, K and N) were enhanced with an increase of incubation days. The results of Biolog analysis at 72 h showed that diversity indices of soil AWCD, Shannon, Simpson and McIntosh were all increased with the microbial inoculants, but the effects of inoculation doses on the diversity indices of soil microbial communities were not significant. Principal component analysis indicated that applying inoculants changed the carbon source utilization patterns of soil microbial communities obviously. CK20 and CK40 had the least level of carbon source utilization; treatment 1 and 2 had higher level of carbon source with similar types, treatment 3 and 4 had the highest level of carbon source utilization, but with different types.
