Abstract: To investigate the effects of the different straw decomposing inoculants on returned straw in the paddy field along Yellow River and improve the use efficiency of returned crop residues into soil,a barrel cultivated experiment was conducted. The population quality index, soil organic matter content, soil total nitrogen, soil C/N,yield and its components characteristics were analyzed at heading and maturity stages by using 10 straw decomposing inoculants. The results indicated that the 10 straw decomposing inoculants significantly increased the soil total nitrogen and reduced the soil C/N at tilling stage. Most of the straw decomposing inoculants could improve the decomposition rates of crop residues and crop growth rates. Above-ground dry matter, leaf area index, and plant height at heading stage and maturity stage with were also increased, and resulted in enhancements of the yield of individual rice plant with 2. 41% to 38. 35%. Among these straw decomposing inoculants, three straw decomposing inoculants, including HW, JD 2 and JBS, showed the highest improvement of morphological and physiological indexes, and the best yield for individual rice plant. Specifically, theyield per individual plant could increase by 38. 35%,32. 33% and 25. 24% compared with those of control. Therefore,HW,JD 2,and JBS were the best and optimal straw decomposing inoculants applied in the paddy field along Yellow River.
