Abstract: Three aquatic plants of macrophytes species,Arundo donax,Acorus tatarinowii and Iris tectorum Maxim. were treated with three different concentrations of lead pollution( Tck: No addition of lead as the control group,Tz: 200 mg · kg-1,as the group of low mass concentration of lead pollution, and Tg: 500 mg·kg-1,as the group of high mass concentration of lead pollution) to study their capacity of purifying soil polluted by different concentrations of lead. The results showed that:( 1) three aquatic plants grew well in the lead polluted soil, indicating that they have a certain tolerance to lead. Under the low mass concentration of lead pollution, the above ground biomasses of Arundo donax and Acorus tatarinowii showed an increasing trend. Under the high mass concentration, the underground biomass of the three aquatic plants all decreased.( 2) Under different concentrations of lead pollution, the distribution of lead content in three aquatic plants is: underground >aboveground.( 3) Under the control group and high mass concentration group, the transfer coefficients of Arundo donax and Iris tectorum Maxim. were > 1; under high mass concentration, the enrichment coefficients were > 1. Arundo donax not only has a high transfer coefficient and enrichment factor of the aboveground and underground, and it has advantages of biomass and adaptability. Therefore, considering the effect of Arundo donax in garden landscape,it can be used as a potential species for lead pollution restoration.
